This is Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff, the first fully finished piece in what is maybe going to be a new series of portraits dedicated to composers. This time I’m working with pastels, to visually remark a difference between this series and the Musicians #1 series, which was done in watercolours and dedicated to jazz musicians. I felt that crosshatched pastel lines were, albeit spare, somehow stronger. I still don’t know if this will grow to be be a ten pieces Musicians #2 series or not, I’ll be posting them in a dedicated gallery as soon as I feel like the pastelwork is done and they’re ready for the folio. Meanwhile, you can check snapshots of what’s coming in my Tumblr sketchbook.
Thanks for the support,
